Under what circumstances are employers excused from providing Workers’ Compensation Insurance?
In Oregon there are approximately 30 exemptions, ranging from domestic employees to firefighters to interstate transporters. (For more detailed information, see ORS 656.027.) However, any employer who has one or more “subject” workers (including minors) who completes services for remuneration, who are subject to the direction and control of the employer must have Workers’ Compensation insurance.
